100 Reasons

The Obuse Mini Marathon is no ordinary footrace. It's about making waves and creating excitement... via art.

An arts festival will be held to commemorate the marathon's fourth anniversary. We've had a band concert in previous marathons. But this time, from start to finish and throughout Obuse, we're looking to 'paint the town red' with a variety of visual and performing arts.

Ose=run day view=rendez-vous=Ose
Our town name, Obuse, derives from the word ose, a reference to our location at the confluence of the Chikumagawa and Matsukawa Rivers. As the symbol of Obuse, the Ose Shrine will serve as site for the marathon registration desk. Come to think of it, our race theme of running for fun while sightseeing brings us right back to our roots: run day view... which is synonamous with the origins of Obuse. (Ose=to have a date or appointment, a rendez-vous.)

An impromptu Obuse International Music Festival will be in full swing. Set your pace to the accompaniment of pro and amateur musicians. Help us create the rhythm for the best field race in the world!

When we work together, success is ours. We are looking for groups to participate. Many groups enhances the number of encounters, the stimulation, and the memories and makes the event more festive and powerful. For groups of ten or more, special awards will be given. The largest group will receive an "Onami" award.

What to wear to a festival? A bandanna, a happi coat, perhaps?
We're looking for contenders to dress up. Individual creativity and unique personal expression will make this event exciting. A nostalgic summer vacation look, or palanquin carrier? A Star Wars character, perhaps? Dazzle us with your own style!
